I just watched the movie American History X, well let me tell you right now I have tears in my eyes from the last scene of the movie, so emotional. I'm broken hearted from all the hate that must go on in this world its so upsetting seeing how people must have such anger towards someone else because they don't look the same as them. Though my spirits are lifted from the middle of the film, for the main character Derek Vinyard played by the well know Edward Norton holds such a Strong hostility towards so many different races has actually changed. He finally came to realizes that hatred will get you no where and that you should love the different religions and cultures around us for we our all alike emotionally. We all laugh in the same language. American History X is a about a son and his family who live in poverty and crimes lurks all around them. When he was younger his father was murdered by a black man, that caused him to grow incredible hatred towards other cultures besides his. He became what we call a "Skin-head." He ends up going to jail and while he is there a black man saved his life, this causes him to understand that his way of thinking for so many years was wrong and that it doesn't matter what color you are. All that really counts in the person underneath the skin. He gets out of jail and sees that his younger brother Danny is in the same situation he was in right before he went to jail, which terrifys him to see that. After passing his story down to his younger brother, Danny doesn't want to be part of the same crowd he is in anymore, though its a bit to late to change his mind now. This movie is excellent I loved it the plot was intense and the moral behind was so powerful and moving, you must rent this movie, It was made in 1998 and directed by Tony Kaye, it also was nominated for 2 Oscars. A quote from imbd.com "His father taught him to hate. His friends taught him rage. His enemies gave him hope."
